Triple Goddess Statues

Triple Goddess statues unite the Maiden, Mother and Crone - three faces of the goddess placed on a lunar altar for work with lunar and life cycles. One image, like the wheel of the year, brings together beginnings, fullness and endings. The familiar Maiden-Mother-Crone triad took shape in the 20th century, though its roots reach back to ancient triple forms, including Hecate. When fate changes its rhythm, such a figure reminds you that every season has its place in the cycle.

Where the Maiden, Mother and Crone image comes from

Robert Graves described the image of three women standing at one road in his book "The White Goddess", and Wicca later adopted this triad based on ancient images of threefold divinity. The Greeks had Triple Hecate and the three Moirai, the Norse had the Norns, and Celtic peoples had goddesses who appeared in threes. These are different traditions and different beings, yet they share one idea: time, fate and transitions reveal themselves through several faces.

The moon changes its light gradually, and Graves connected its waxing, full and waning forms with three stages of a woman's life. The Maiden carries beginnings and forward movement, the Mother helps nurture and fulfil what has been conceived, and the Crone knows when it is time to bring things to an end and let go. The lunar cycle thus becomes a clear map for anyone who notices changes in their role, state and direction.

Today, this image lives in practice as a symbol of the cycle rather than an exact reproduction of an ancient cult. A goddess figure in three aspects helps reveal the path of an intention, from the first inner impulse through its result to making space for the next undertaking. Place it where you return to your plans, so you can better see what is ready to begin, grow or conclude.

How the three aspects relate to lunar phases

The lunar month unfolds work gradually, as a garden reveals its tasks from the first sprout to the gathering of seeds. The Maiden receives intentions that need to gather strength, the Mother receives what already calls for care and fullness, and the Crone receives matters that have reached completion. This connection with the phases helps you choose the right moment for action without turning practice into a strict schedule.

Aspect

Moon phase

What it is used for

Maiden

Waxing moon

Beginnings, learning, new feelings

Mother

Full moon

Abundance, care, fertility, fulfilment

Crone

Waning and dark moon

Wisdom, completion, letting go

The Triple Moon combines the waxing crescent, full circle and waning crescent in one symbol, as though it holds the whole month before your eyes. Place this symbol at the base of the statue or beside it on the altar to follow your work from one phase to the next. If you keep notes, record both events and the face of the goddess that was easier to speak with at that time beside your lunar dates.

No one lives in a single role, just as a house is not lit by only one window. In one week, you may be the Maiden in study, the Mother while caring for loved ones and the Crone in a decision where it is time to draw a line. The universe responds to a clear course of events, so a completed task is worth marking as space freed for the next beginning.

Why Hecate is depicted with three faces

Three roads meet at one point, and Hecate turns a face toward each of them: the past, the present and the future. Her triple form is tied to choice, when the familiar path has ended and the next one calls for resolve. On an altar, such a figure guards the boundary and accompanies transition.

A door and a crossroads always change the direction of movement. In antiquity, images of Triple Hecate were placed at house entrances and crossroads, where people needed protection and clarity. A home statue can stand by the entrance, so returning home marks the end of the outer day and the beginning of personal time.

Hecate's torches hold light at the boundary, her keys govern open and closed paths, and her dogs warn of approaching a threshold. For work with the image of a threshold, keys and locks are also suitable: a key leaves the decision in your hands, while a lock helps mark what should not yet be allowed in. Triple Hecate in ash wood, 18.5 cm tall, suits a calm altar space where natural material and a composed image matter.

Hecate is addressed when choosing a path, protecting the home, practising magic or looking into one's shadow - those sides of oneself that need honesty. The dark moon is often associated with her time: there is almost no outer light, so one must rely on inner knowledge. This image does not require you to rush an answer; it helps you hold a lantern while you pass through your crossroads.

How to work with the Triple Goddess through the lunar cycle

Lunar phases give work with the Triple Goddess a clear rhythm: first steps are entrusted to the Maiden, gratitude for what has ripened is brought to the Mother, and what has served its purpose is given to the Crone. One lunar month thus holds an intention in full, from planting to completion. The candle colours below are used in the Wiccan tradition; if your practice uses other colours, choose those you already work with.

  1. At the new moon, write your intention in a few simple words, without conditions or reservations. Place the note beside the figure and say aloud what you want to set in motion during the coming lunar cycle.
  2. The waxing moon calls for something you can do with your hands. Take the first step towards your intention: begin studying, meeting someone, submit an application or start a conversation. A white candle beside the figure will support the Maiden's work.
  3. The full moon gathers in its hands what has already had time to grow. Hold an esbat, a lunar gathering for gratitude and an intermediate review. Light a red candle, leave milk, honey or flowers, and note what has become more abundant in your life.
  4. During the waning moon, listen to what drains strength from your work. Write down habits, promises, fears or other people's expectations that you no longer want to give your attention to.
  5. The dark moon is suited to saying farewell to what you wrote down. Burn the note in a safe vessel, and light a black candle as a sign of the Crone's work, taking away what has outlived its time calmly and without struggle.
  6. When the cycle is complete, leave a record of the outcome in your book of shadows. A few honest lines will show where the intention has strengthened and what still needs a different time.

Why the Crone need not be feared

After the harvest, the garden grows quiet, yet the earth keeps its strength for the next season. The Crone carries the wisdom of completion and helps release what has outlived its time, making room for something new in the home, in thoughts and in practice. On the altar, she maintains balance, reminding us that an endless pursuit of the new exhausts the meaning of the work.

Darkness is frightening where people are used to remaining silent about old age and death. Culture places great value on youth and growth, so decline can easily be seen as defeat. A finished relationship, job, difficult period or former idea of oneself can sometimes free a space where it becomes easier to breathe.

In the Crone's hands, experience becomes clarity, and clarity gives the right to say "no". She helps reveal repeating cycles, protect boundaries and separate what can still grow from what is ready to leave with gratitude. Let what truly belongs to you remain beside her.

The waning moon and the end of the year gather matters that need a quiet conclusion. During times of loss and change, place dried herbs, an old note to close or a symbol of a completed task beside the figure. In this way, the Crone restores the fullness of the cycle to the altar and leaves room in it for the wisdom of an ending.

Where to place a figure of the three aspects

A figure of the three aspects needs a place where the lunar cycle will not be lost among everyday objects. Put it in the centre of a lunar altar or where you notice the moon: the image should catch your eye on the right days, and a small statue needs some open space around it.

The place will be suggested by the part of your practice that you want to support.

  • By a window or on a windowsill where the moon can be seen, the figure connects altar work with actual night light. If the window faces another direction, leave the statue where you spend your evenings and can see it regularly.
  • At the centre of the altar, the three aspects hold the axis of the lunar cycle. Keep this option for work that includes candles, written intentions or offerings.
  • By the front door, Hecate takes the place of a guardian of the threshold. Her figure helps mark the boundary of the home and leave the concerns of the outer day beyond the door.
  • Beside a book of shadows and lunar calendar, the image connects observing the phases with reflection. Here it is convenient to record outcomes at once, before they fade by the end of the month.

The moon shifts the light outside the window, and the altar can change with it. During the waxing moon, place white flowers nearby, during the full moon, fruits or honey, and during the waning moon, dried herbs. These signs give the intention a visible form that is easier to return to with your eyes.

How to choose a Triple Goddess figure

An altar figure becomes a symbol that hand and gaze return to on familiar days of practice. Listen for which image resonates with you more calmly: three women of different ages, lunar Hecate or the spinners of fate, and relate it to the place on your altar. Before you buy a Maiden Mother Crone statue, picture it among your candles, books and other objects, as well as the days when you will turn to it.

Several guides can help you understand your choice.

  • Image. The three ages gather the Maiden, Mother and Crone in one figure, as in the 26 cm "Maiden, Mother and Crone" statue, the 27 cm "Three Aspects" statue and the 20 cm "Triple Goddess" statue. Keep the lunar motif for work with the cycle and Hecate for thresholds and crossroads, so the image supports your work.
  • Material. Polystone, bronze-effect polystone and ash wood feel different in the hands, like different voices in one room. Ash brings natural warmth, while the material of the figure should suit the objects already on your altar and the place where it will be treated with care.
  • Size. A figure 10.5-11.5 cm tall will fit comfortably on a small lunar altar, 18.5-20 cm suits a shelf, while 26-27 cm can become the central figure. Leave enough air around it: a large statue in a cramped space interferes with ritual, while a small one gets lost beside tall candles and books.
  • Price. The approximate range for the figures is 2350-3950 UAH. When the place and image are already clear, choosing an item becomes calmer and freer of unnecessary doubts.

For the Moirai, the thread of human life passes through three hands. In Greek mythology, Clotho spins it, Lachesis measures it and Atropos cuts it. This image is closer to reflecting on fate and its terms, while the Triple Goddess helps you live through your own lunar cycle. For a deeper acquaintance with the tradition, books on Wicca are suitable if you want to structure your esbats consistently.

Questions about the Triple Goddess and her images

How does the Triple Goddess differ from the Moirai?

The Triple Goddess shows one goddess at three ages: the Maiden, Mother and Crone. The Moirai, meanwhile, come as three from the Greek tradition and govern human fate: Clotho spins the thread, Lachesis measures it and Atropos cuts it. Therefore, a figure of the Moirai turns the gaze towards the terms and structure of fate.

Can I work with the Triple Goddess outside Wicca?

Yes. The image of the Triple Goddess can be included in any practice where lunar cycles, intention and mindful experience of change feel close to you. Take the division by lunar phases from Wicca if it suits you, and build the rest of your work within your own tradition.

Is a Triple Goddess figure suitable for a man?

Yes. The moon moves through beginnings, maturity and endings for every person, regardless of gender. For a man, the goddess image can support work with choice, creativity, home and personal cycles.

What figure should I give a woman who is just beginning her practice?

A compact figure with a clear lunar symbol will suit her, provided there is room for it on a small shelf or altar. The 11.5 cm "Goddesses on a Crescent Moon" figure will make a good gift if you know the recipient feels close to working with lunar phases.

Do you deliver figures by courier in Kyiv?

Yes. We deliver figures by courier across Kyiv and its suburbs. When placing your order, choose this delivery method if your address is within the courier service area.
