Books on Esotericism, Magic & Spiritual Practices

Occult books set down on paper what for centuries had been passed on differently — from teacher to student, by word of mouth, by demonstration, rarely in writing. Grimoires, treatises on astrology and herbalism, ritual manuals turned a living oral tradition into text that outlives the one who carried it.

That is how practical and theoretical knowledge became reproducible. A book can be reread, checked against another, returned to years later at the right chapter. Esoteric literature is broader than a deck or an amulet for a single task: it covers translated classics that shaped the Western tradition for decades, modern hands-on guides, editions in several languages, and books of shadows, where a practitioner records their own experience.

What occult books are in the catalogue

The section brings together books of varying depth and purpose — from foundational works that any tradition starts with, to workbooks a practitioner fills in themselves. Below are the main groups the catalogue breaks down into.

  • Translated classics. Key works of Western esotericism that used to appear only in English or in the original — grimoires, treatises on Hermeticism, astrology, Kabbalah.

  • Practical guides and books on spiritual practices. Step-by-step manuals on meditation, energy work and self-knowledge — what helps you build a regular practice rather than only read the theory.

  • Editions in Ukrainian. Translations and original texts by Ukrainian practitioners — a growing part of the catalogue for those to whom the native language matters.

  • Editions in English. Original print runs by foreign authors, for readers who want the source with nothing lost in translation.

  • Books of shadows. Ready-made notebooks styled as a personal grimoire and handcrafted copies — blank space for spells, rituals and observations.

Language versions overlap with subject matter. The same classic work turns up both in translation and in the original, while a book of shadows is chosen to suit your own way of keeping records.

If a group feels too broad, start from the task — what exactly you want to do with the book. That same question is the right place to begin the choice.

How to choose a book for practice

These are the guidelines we keep in mind when advising in the showroom ourselves. Choosing a book starts with a simple question. What do you want to get out of it — a basic grasp of the system, or a specific technique you can apply today?

Translated classics give you the foundation. These are the texts the whole tradition rests on, and without them later practical books often read as a set of techniques with no root. Starting with a foundational work is harder, but afterwards any manual settles onto a base you understand.

A practical guide works differently — it leads you by the hand from the first step, and it is easier to enter a specific practice with. If esoteric books have never crossed your path before, that is fine: a translated practical guide is exactly where people begin, and there is no need to worry about the «right» reading order. Language matters too: the English original keeps the author's nuances, but a Ukrainian or Russian translation removes an extra barrier when grasping the meaning matters more than checking terminology.

Only official editions — no scans or reprints

In esoterica it is easy to run into a rephotographed scan or a pirated reprint — with lost diagrams, unreadable correspondence tables and cropped illustrations. We work only with original official editions, and you can ask about a specific book in advance: write to us, and a practitioner who has read these books will tell you about the translation, print quality and level of difficulty. The showroom in Kyiv is there for those who want to leaf through an edition in person, but for most people the answer comes faster over chat.

  • Only original official print runs. No rephotographed scans or homemade reprints — the print, paper and colour are as the publisher intended them.

  • Practitioners advise you. The person recommending has read these books and used them in practice.

  • Loyalty programme. A cumulative discount from 1 to 10% of your purchases, promo codes in the newsletter and a discount on the shop's birthday.

  • Same-day dispatch. Orders are processed and handed to the courier on the day they are placed.

  • A physical showroom. Kyiv, Besarabska Square 2, Metrograd Mall, entrance from Khreshchatyk — you can open and leaf through a book before buying.

Esoteric books at Artifacts of the Vedun are original official editions, without rephotographed scans or reprints. You can place an order on the site, and we manage to process and dispatch it the same day. You can buy an esoteric book both online and in the showroom on Besarabska Square, where you can genuinely leaf through it before the purchase. The price of each edition is shown on its page, and if you are unsure about the translation or level — write to us before ordering, and a practitioner will advise.

Common questions about esoteric books

Can I return a book?

Yes. Returns are handled under consumer protection law, and the shop adds no extra conditions. If an edition did not suit you, get in touch and we will explain what to do.

How do I tell an original from a scan?

An original edition has even printing, legible diagrams and correspondence tables, quality paper and binding. Rephotographed copies usually give themselves away with blurred illustrations and «floating» text. The catalogue holds only official print runs, so you will not have to check a book against these signs.

What language are the books in?

The catalogue has editions in Ukrainian, English and translations into Russian. Originals suit those who want to read the author without a middleman, translations suit those who care more about grasping the essence quickly. The language of each book is stated in its description.

Where do I start with no experience?

With a translated practical guide on the topic closest to you. It gives the first steps and needs no preparation, while foundational classics are convenient to move on to later, once you have your own frame of reference. If you are unsure, write to us — we will pick an esoteric book to match your level.

Can I see a book in person?

Yes. The showroom is in Kyiv on Besarabska Square 2, in Metrograd Mall, entrance from Khreshchatyk. There you can open a book, leaf through it and put a question to a practitioner in person.
