Author and occultist Travis McHenry unveils the secret demons of the 17th century and channels their power into this unique 78-card divination deck.
Drawing on demons, symbols, and sigils from ancient magical grimoires, including Archidoxis Magica and The Key of Solomon, the Occult Tarot Pocket Edition is a fully realized divination tool that allows you to explore the mysteries of the night. As the first Tarot deck to strictly follow Solomonic principles of demon invocation, it enables practitioners to discover the power of ancient demons and learn to command entities that wander between the physical and spiritual realms.
“Demons are spirits that exist on the boundary between the physical world and the lower spiritual planes,” writes McHenry. “Occult Tarot uses the power of these entities to help you uncover the hidden secrets of your own life.”
The deck assigns the 72 demons of the Ars Goetia to the structure of the Tarot, along with six Princes of Hell (with six archangels added in the Angel Tarot): Azazel, Baphomet, Beelzebub, Lucifer, Lucifuge Rofocale, and Moloch. Occult Tarot is deeply rooted in Solomonic magic. The accompanying guidebook provides further knowledge on demon invocation, ritual magic, and working with the deck.
On each card, the upper section displays the corresponding Tarot key, followed by the demon’s name in large print. Beneath it, in Hebrew, appears the name of the ruling angel. The numerical correspondence represents the Goetic number. After the illustration—adapted and refined from the Dictionnaire Infernal—the demon’s powers are listed, along with three variations of invocation seals.
One of the most intriguing methods described in the guidebook involves asking questions directly to a demon. By creating a ritual circle, you summon the entity and draw a card for each question. The Tarot key associated with that card serves as the answer. Another approach uses the Celtic Cross spread, where each position reveals a demon and its influence on your life path.
