The Arthur Rackham Tarot is based on the iconic illustrations of Arthur Rackham, one of the most celebrated British illustrators of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Known for his richly detailed and atmospheric depictions of myth, fairy tales, and folklore, Rackham’s artwork provides the visual foundation for this Tarot deck.
This deck draws deeply from British folklore and fairy traditions, guiding the reader into a world populated by woodland spirits, fae beings, and mythic characters. The imagery evokes a sense of entering a hidden, enchanted landscape where nature and magic intertwine.
Structured according to the Rider–Waite tradition, the deck retains the standard 78-card Tarot system, including illustrated Minor Arcana and traditional court cards (Page, Knight, Queen, King). However, the visual language is entirely shaped by Rackham’s distinctive style—delicate, expressive, and often slightly eerie.
The Major Arcana and Minor Arcana are reinterpreted through scenes inspired by fairy tales and folkloric symbolism, emphasizing themes of transformation, mystery, and the unseen forces of nature. The absence of written labels on the cards encourages intuitive reading based on imagery alone.
Created by Arthur Rackham, the deck includes 78 cards and a multilingual instruction booklet (English, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese). It is designed for readers who appreciate classic illustration, mythological storytelling, and a more intuitive, image-driven approach to Tarot.
