Numerology — a set of beliefs and practices related to numbers, which each of you has definitely heard of.
Each number forms an archetype by which a person, their character, talent and even fate can be described. Some use numerology to determine favorable and unfavorable days for certain events: starting a business, marriage, travel and such everyday things as a haircut or cleaning.
Interesting is that Pythagoras called numbers living beings and always endowed them with special meaning. The main principles of the existing version of Western numerology were developed by him, as the philosopher and mathematician was able to combine mathematical systems of different peoples with the sciences of human nature.
Kabbalists, in turn, expanded the Pythagorean concept. They even developed a variety of numerology — gematria — a method of analyzing the meaning of words and expressions based on the numerical values of the letters contained in them.
From a numerological point of view, our time moves in an endlessly repeating cycle — from 1 to 9. Therefore, in practices, numbers are most often reduced to digits.
What secrets does numerology hide?
Of course, the meaning and awareness of a number as its magical archetype, which can help in spiritual growth, rituals, meditations and the discovery of one’s Self.
Number 1 — symbolizes new beginnings, leadership and independence. In the Tarot Major Arcana, the number one is the first arcana (the Magician), meaning it carries the energy of ambition, determination, inspiration. This number formulates reality, therefore it also has a shadow aspect interpretation: unhealthy egoism, indifference, self-interest.
Number 2 — duality, balance, partnership. Magically associated with the Moon, feminine power and intuition. It is often used in love, protection and mirror practices.
Number 3 — conveys the power of creation, fertility, a deep connection with nature. It enhances manifestations, helps communicate with spirits and express creativity.
Number 4 — embodies structure, stability, responsibility for one’s words and actions. It is used to stabilize energies, but in a negative aspect it can lead to stagnation.
Number 5 — transformation and change. Often used to remove old programs, break obsessive beliefs, spiritual initiations.
Number 6 — in Tarot symbolizes the “Lovers” card, which pushes us to choose with the heart, teaches harmony between the outer and inner world through the embodiment of unconditional love.
Number 7 — is unique, as it is closely connected with magical knowledge and mysteries, the esoteric path of practitioners, namely a confident movement toward something new.
Number 8 — often used in the meaning of material well-being, karma, power and materialization. Eight is also a symbol of infinity, representing not only repetition but also boundless possibilities in life.
Number 9 — in Tarot it is the “Hermit”. However, this does not mean that being a hermit is always bad. The number symbolizes the search for truth, closing cycles, letting go of the past and cleansing karma. It is about death for the sake of rebirth (of course, this does not refer to physical death).
